Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani confirms that Marvel released a fake leak from the set of Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios is zealous about protecting its movies from spoiler leaks at all times. But that went double in the months leading up to the release of 2019’s blockbuster fourth Avengers movie.
Avengers: Endgame was of course one of the most highly-anticipated movies of all-time leading up to its late-April 2019 drop. This is easy to understand given the events of its predecessor Avengers: Infinity War, which famously saw Thanos blipping a number of major characters including Black Panther and Spider-Man out of existence with a snap of his fingers, leaving their fates up in the air. The mystery of how all this would be resolved in Endgame naturally led fans to an even more feverish level of theorizing than normal. And all that fan frenzy of course led Marvel to be even more vigilant than normal in protecting the movie’s precious secrets.

Some secrets about Avengers: Endgame of course leaked out despite Marvel’s high level of security. But at least one “leak” from the movie is now confirmed to have been a deliberate misdirect perpetrated by the studio to throw fans off the trail. During her recent Reddit AMA, Ms. Marvel star Vellani casually mentioned an infamous Endgame set photo showing the apparent return of Tony Stark’s BARF technology (first introduced in Captain America: Civil War and later revealed in Spider-Man: Far From Home to have been invented by Mysterio), and let it drop that this photo (which can be seen in the space below) was in fact disinformation.
