As development continues on theupcoming remake of , the game's pre-order information has revealed that it will seemingly include an origin story for one of the game's most iconic villains, Pyramid Head — which, unfortunately, has a good chance of turning out poorly. One of the all-time classics of the survival horror genre, is likely the most notorious and well-known game in the franchise, going on to inspire several other horror games with its unique atmosphere and storytelling. More recently, however, a remake of the title has been announced to be in development under the studio Bloober Team, setting off doubts from many long-time fans of the series.
Known for its previous work on games like the series and, Bloober Team is a relatively experienced studio when it comes to making horror games. Unfortunately, the studio's reputation is also mixed, with its games garnering complaints of being ham-fisted and unsubtle in their handling of their themes, and, especially in the case of, carrying potentially harmful messages about mental illness. As a result, the studio's in-development remake of is in trouble, as the studio's ability to handle the game's unique psychological horror and uncomfortable themes is already in question.
