Have you heard about the resurrection of O2Jam with its new version, O2Jam Remix? Well, yes, the casual rhythm-matching game is getting a reboot for mobile. So, what’s new in the remix, and is it worth trying? Let’s find out!
If you played the original, you know it garnered quite the attention back in the day. When it dropped in 2003, it kind of started the rhythm game genre. Unfortunately, the publishers went bankrupt and the game was shut down.
And then it tried to make a comeback in the last few years in various platforms. It dropped on Android in March 2020 (by a new developer Valofe). But the game wasn’t able to recreate the magic of O2Mania. And so, O2Jam Remix is trying hard to make amends for what went wrong the last time.
Firstly, there are tons of new tracks in O2Jam Remix. You’ll get 158 tracks for the 7-key mode. And if you’re more into 4 or 5-key songs, there are 297 of those, too. Featured tracks include V3, Fly Magpie, Electro Fantasy, Volcano, 0.1, Milk Chocolate, Earth Quake and Identity Part II.
Navigating the game has been made slicker. The social features have got an uplift too. You can now connect with friends, chat more easily and see where you rank globally. And if shopping’s your thing, the updated item mall has some fresh in-game goodies to check out.
Now, there’s a login event going on if you want to snag some exclusive items like Cute Rabbit Ears and Star Wish. So, get your hands on O2Jam Remix from the official website. And if you want to check out its prequel, then head over to the Google Play Store.
When a game leans too heavily on nostalgia without evolving, it loses its charm. Let’s hope Valofe’s O2Jam Remix gives us a good experience. Also, check out our news on Dresden Files Co-op Card Game Adding Its Sixth Expansion ‘Faithful Friends.’
