Nvidia pulling GeForce Now from Russia
pcgamesinsider.bizHardware giant Nvidia is ceasing operations of its GeForce Now streaming service in Russia.
In a blog post on its local website – spotted by Overclockers.ru – the company said that it isn't able to effectively operate under the "current circumstances". This is likely a reference to the sanctions that Russia is subject to – as well as the economic downturn the country is experiencing – thanks to its invasion of Ukraine. Overclockers also speculates that it might be to do with low appetite for streaming in Russia.
Nvidia will be closing registrations to new GeForce Now Russia users from September 1st and halting sales of 30, 180 and 365-day subscriptions. As of October 1st, servers will no longer work for Russian users.
"Games have always been our passion, which we share with you. Our passion for gaming has given us the opportunity to create a world-class service where you can find the best games, the latest technology and the best gaming experience," Nvidia said via Google Translate.
"In the current circumstances, we are unable to provide the quality of service that we have set for ourselves and that our users expect and deserve."
