Looking for something to watch? If you have a Chromecast with Google TV or a TV with built-in Google TV(Opens in a new window), more than 800 free ad-supported TV channels are coming your way.
Google is adding a new live TV experience to the Google TV interface's Live tab. There, you can tap into free streaming channels from Tubi, Plex, and Haystack News, in addition to the existing lineup of channels from Pluto TV.
"We’re also launching free built-in channels from Google TV that you can watch without even downloading or launching an app," Google says(Opens in a new window). "In total, you can now browse over 800 channels and premium programming, including news channels from NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX."
Programming will also cover more than 10 languages including Spanish, Hindi, and Japanese.
The Live tab organizes content by topic and genre, while users can save channels to “Favorites” for quick access. Those who subscribe to YouTube TV or Sling TV can access them there too.
While paid services dominate the streaming world, there are a growing number of free, ad-supported options, most notably from The Roku Channel, which just added more than 2,000 hours of Warner Bros. Discovery content—including canceled HBO series Westworld.
