This release coincides with the debut of the PlayStation VR2, bringing full support for the new headset, along with next-generation visuals and immersive controls.
In their latest post on the PlayStation Blog, the development team has delved into the detailed changes that Fractal brings to No Man’s Sky. Hello Games has always been passionate about virtual reality (VR), and since the game's introduction of VR support in 2019, it has evolved significantly. The release of the PS VR2 presented an opportunity to revamp the VR experience for all players, and that's precisely what the Fractal update accomplishes.
While the inclusion of PS VR2 support is the standout feature, this update also adds numerous new features such as terrain tessellation, reflections, ultra-quality textures, denser foliage, and increased draw distance. The Fractal update also includes PlayStation VR2-specific functionality, such as headset vibrations, 3D audio technology, intelligent tracking, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers from the PS VR2 Sense controller. With these features, exploring the vast universe of No Man’s Sky in virtual reality becomes an entirely immersive experience.
Players can now play the entirety of No Man’s Sky in VR mode, but they can easily switch to standard gameplay if they want to.
