Nintendo Japan has updated the Nintendo Direct page on its website, which usually indicates that a Nintendo Direct is on the way in the coming weeks or months.
Considering how busy the next week is for gaming news thanks to Summer Game Fest, Xbox's Summer Showcase, and the first Ubisoft Forward of the year, you might have forgotten that we're approaching that glorious time of year when everyone starts questioning when the next Nintendo Direct is going to be. Nintendo is known for having a Direct in the Summer and, although it's not confirmed one for this year yet, it seems likely that we'll be hearing about it soon.

As highlighted by My Nintendo News, Japanese Nintendo news Twitter account nintendoevery discovered that the big N updated its Nintendo Direct page on the official Nintendo website. Nintendo usually does this before a Nintendo Direct is announced, which seems to indicate that we're not far off from hearing when the next showcase is going to be.
They said, "It turns out that Nintendo has updated the special page of “Nintendo Direct” on its official website around 8 a.m. on June 7. The current situation is unknown about the background of the update, and there is a strong view from users that the annual Nindai (Nintendo Direct) will be broadcast soon.”
It's worth noting that just because Nintendo updated the Direct page, it doesn't necessarily mean that an announcement is going to come shortly after.
