A YouTuber who runs a channel that primarily uploads rips of soundtracks of Nintendo games has claimed that the published has blocked over 1300 videos in the past few days.
GilvaSunner, a YouTuber channel that boasts almost half a million subscribers, wrote on Twitter that Nintendo had blocked videos featuring the soundtrack from games such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and several more.
In 2019, GilvaSunner revealed that they’d received notice of impending takedown requests from Nintendo Japan, but it appears to have taken several years for the company to successfully take down the majority of their channel.
At the time of publication, the soundtrack of Super Mario Sunshine appears to remain intact on the channel.
In 2020 GilvaSunner said “Let me clarify again that I do not monetize videos and do not profit from them. I do realize that doesn’t justify uploading the content.”
He continued: “I’m also not angry or surprised that Nintendo is doing this, but I do think it’s a bit disappointing there is hardly an alternative. If Nintendo thinks this is what needs to be done (to set an example), I will let them take down the channel. It is their content after all.”

Historically, Nintendo has actively shut down violations of its copyright on YouTube.
Eventually, the company set up the Nintendo Creators Program, a program designed to ensure that videos featuring Nintendo games were approved for publication.
However, the company later shut down the program, claiming that it would give content creators more freedom in using Nintendo games in their videos, but posted strict guidelines for their usage.
