Nintendo has hosted a Nintendo Direct event in February pretty consistently for the past decade, and so many fans assumed that one would take place this month as well. Reputable Nintendo leakers and insiders also hinted at a Nintendo Direct event taking place this week, which ramped up fan expectations even more. And now Nintendo has officially announced that the first Nintendo Direct of 2022 will indeed be happening this week.
The February 2022 Nintendo Direct date has been set as Wednesday, February 9 at 2pm PT. Nintendo didn't provide specifics on which games fans will get to see, but it did say that the stream will be «roughly» 40 minutes long and focus «mainly» on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of the year. As it stands, the first half of 2022 is pretty bare when it comes to confirmed Switch releases, and so it seems anything could be on the table.

There are a couple of Nintendo Switch games with confirmed dates within the first half of 2022 that seem to be likely contenders for the Direct presentation. For example, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to launch on March 25, and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has an April 5 release date. Beyond those games, though, it's really anyone's guess as to what other Nintendo Switch games may be shown off during the Nintendo Direct.
And then there are Nintendo Switch games confirmed for release in 2022 without specific release dates. This would include titles like Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, and of course, the highly-anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel, which is still without an official title at the time of this writing.
