Another month means another big monthly patch for Amazon Games' New World. April's update is all about quality-of-life tweaks, making the game feel more polished, less cluttered, and more readable. Fans of New World should find things a going a little smoother with this round of changes.
After launching last September, Amazon Games' flagship MMORPG was met with a rocky start. New World's player counts dropped rapidly, with reviewers often citing the game's bugs, lack of polish, clunky controls, poor performance, and lack of endgame content. In response to this, Amazon Games has been sticking to an update schedule of large monthly updates alongside smaller patches in between to address these problems and improve the game.
New World Reveals 2022 Roadmap
The April update, following New World's Easter event, features dozens of bug fixes, quality-of-life features, and UI changes. Amazon stated that the goal is «making life in Aeternum feel better and smoother on a moment-to-moment-basis.» Certain starting area enemies have been made easier, small flint objects no longer have collision (a common annoyance that caused players to stop running when hitting a pebble), and a fix prevented players from blocking boss phase transitions. Attack inputs have been made smoother, along with a fix for the stutter/desync encountered while moving and casting spells. While no balance changes were made to weapons, all weapons received various bug and desync fixes.
