CD Projekt Redhas confirmed that the new games in The Witcher franchise won't be Epic Games Store exclusives, despite the company's partnership with Epic Games, and the shift to Unreal Engine 5. CDPR has announced The Witcher 4 is on the way and it's being developed on Unreal Engine 5, with more games on the way in the future, as part of a brand new saga.
The new entries in The Witcher series will be made using Unreal Engine 5, which was developed by Epic Games. The change of engines is a departure for CDPR, as it has its own proprietary engine, called REDengine. CDPR has used different iterations of the REDengine to produce The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansions will continue to be developed using REDengine.

The new partnership between CDPR and Epic Games initially led some people to believe that the new entries in The Witcher series would be exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC. Epic Games' exclusivity has led to a backlash from fans of other franchises in the past, but it seems that won't be necessary this time. A post made by the official The Witcher Twitter account has confirmed that there are no plans to make the new entries in The Witcher series exclusive to one platform.
