One of the most intriguing updates from the Season of Discovery Phase 6 Announcement, was the concept of a 'roguelike' scaling difficulty system coming to Ahn'Qiraj!
Season of Discovery Phase 6 Coming November 21st
So far in Season of Discovery, several new difficulty modes have been introduced. In Molten Core, we had Heat Levels where players could 'turn up the heat' and the amount of Fire Resistance required was increased. In Blackwing Lair, we have Trials of the Dragonflight, which can be mixed and matched to have various effects.
In Season of Discovery, both the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj will have a new scaling difficulty system. After each boss, players will need to choose between cashing in rewards, or enabling further mechanics and risk losing everything.
At first impression, this mechanic sounds more punishing than players have been used to in Season of Discovery so far, and as fun as it sounds, it will be interesting to see how this system may be implemented as time goes on.
