The next Mass Effect game has a new teaser to mark N7 Day, and it's a head-scratcher. So far, all we have to go on is five seconds of someone walking down a hallway, and a brief message that mentions the Andromeda galaxy.
This teaser was found through a secret message on this year's N7 Day blog post, which when translated, reads the word, "EPSILON". This is the fifth letter in the Greek alphabet, and this would be the fifth Mass Effect game. This is significant, as it confirms that BioWare considers this to be Mass Effect 5, rather than 4, and therefore, continuing on from Andromeda rather than ignoring it entirely.
Some had taken to calling this mysterious sequel "Mass Effect 4", either because the last numbered game in the series was Mass Effect 3 - or because they'd rather pretend Andromeda never happened. This teaser strongly suggests that BioWare will not be doing the latter, as not only is Epilson the fifth letter of the alphabet, but the blog post hosting the trailer also mentions a distress signal detected in the Andromeda galaxy. Perhaps this game will finally wrap up some of the loose ends left behind when Andromeda was abandoned.
