Never Alone is a game that immediately captures your heart due to its beautiful art style. However, the puzzle-platformer isn't just all about style as it also has plenty of substance, too, as it's very enjoyable to play. And the first chapter does a good job of giving you a peek into that greatness while setting the tone for things to come.

It's only a short opening level, but it manages to introduce the two main characters, teach you the basic mechanics of the game, and give you an exciting experience in the process. This guide covers everything you must do in the chapter to complete it with no problems.
The game begins with an artistic cutscene that sets up the story. It introduces you to the main girl, Nuna, whose village is hit by a never-ending blizzard. The protagonist then sets out to find the source of the phenomenon.
Shortly after this, you're given control of the girl who's in immediate jeopardy as a polar bear begins to chase her. And your first objective is to stay away from the predator as it kills you pretty quickly if it gets a hold of you.
Therefore, in classic side-scroller fashion, you must run to the right. When you get to the first gap in the path, a button will appear on the screen telling you how to jump. As you'd expect, if you fall into any gaps, you will die immediately. Unfortunately, your newfound jumping ability isn't enough to evade the polar bear, as it also has leaping skills.
While on the path, you also run into a few walls that block your way. Use the jump button to clamber over them. As for the slope you come across, you can just run to it as the girl will automatically slide down.
