A new trailer for Netflix's Resident Evil reveals four of the video game Easter eggs that will appear in the upcoming show. Starting in 1996 with Capcom's originalgame, the Resident Evil franchise now consists of 12 games and seven feature films, the most recent of which is Johannes Roberts' Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City. Netflix's upcoming take on the games marks the first time the source material has been adapted into a live-action series.
Resident Evil, the show, takes place across two separate timelines, with one set in the future after the discovery of the T-Virus and a deadly outbreak. The show's early timeline chronicles the exploits of Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick), a leading bio-chemist in New Raccoon City at the Umbrella Corporation. Early trailers and promotional images have teased plenty of scares and lots of action, as Resident Evil fans have come to expect, but also tease a compelling human element for audiences to become invested in as well. In addition to Reddick as Wesker, Resident Evil stars Ella Balinska, Siena Agudong, Turlough Convery, Conner Gosatti, Tetiana Gaidar, Lea Vivier, Bjorn Steinbach, and Paula Nuñez.
