SNK has announced that it is working on a second compendium of titles pulled from the back catalog of the Neo Geo Pocket Color. While the studio has made an official reveal for Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2, it remained shy about delivering any information whatsoever pertaining to the release.
The original Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection launched on PC and Nintendo Switch in March of 2021 and is packed out with 10 hit games for SNK’s awesome, but ultimately unsuccessful, handheld console. The original release featured hits such as Samurai Shodown! 2, SNK Gals Fighters, Dark Arms: Beast Buster 1999, Big Tournament Golf, and The King of Fighters R-2, but curiously did not contain independent re-releases such as SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash, or the brilliant Match of the Millennium.
While SNK has not announced platforms, a release date, nor a game listing for the second selection, one would assume it would compile the aforementioned omissions and — if we’re extremely lucky — the NGPC ports of Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man and Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. According to SNK, more details are set to follow soon. In related news, the NGPC version of rarity Mega Man Battle & Fighters dropped out of nowhere on Nintendo Switch.
Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 is currently in development at SNK.
