One of the highest-rated new game releases of 2021 was Deathloop from Arkane Studios and Bethesda. Deathloop earned high marks from critics, with praise for its action-packed FPS gameplay and clever multiplayer mechanics. Thanks to a deal between Bethesda and PlayStation that existed before the Microsoft acquisition, Deathloop has remained a PlayStation 5 exclusive game, but that could be changing in the very near future.
We've known for quite some time that the Deathloop PS5 exclusivity is running out on September 14. At that point, it's possible for Microsoft to finally release an Xbox Series X version of the game. No such plans have been announced at the time of this writing, but it would make sense for Microsoft to release an Xbox Series X version of Deathloop as soon as it possibly can. And since Deathloop is a first-party Xbox game, it would almost certainly be a day one Xbox Game Pass game whenever it does release.
Deathloop Colt Actor Teases New Project
Again, it must be stressed that this has not actually been announced at this time, and it's entirely possible fans will have to wait until later in the year to play Deathloop on Xbox. However, Microsoft would be well within its right to release Deathloop for Xbox Game Pass this month. But while it remains to be seen if Deathloop is coming to Xbox Series X and Game Pass this month, we do know that it's going to be featured on PlayStation Plus.
The PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will have Deathloop starting September 20. This gives PlayStation Plus subscribers access to one of the PlayStation 5's highest-rated console exclusive games, so it should be a big deal, even if it comes to Xbox Game Pass around the same time.
