Meta this week launched(Opens in a new window) six new features for Facebook and Instagram creators to use with Reels, including expanded support for its "Add Yours" sticker prompt and the ability for anyone to cross-post Reels between platforms.
Instagram in November rolled out the "Add Yours" sticker—an interactive feature that groups stories based on a user-generated prompt. You may have seen ones like "Who are you in love with?" or "Show me your favorite food," over an image of a significant other, celebrity, or pizza. You can interact with an existing sticker or create your own.
Previously limited to Instagram Stories, the feature is now available for Reels on Instagram and Facebook, where folks can scroll through a page of responses and add their own media to the list. When creating a Reel, select Preview (Instagram) > Sticker > Add Yours, then write a prompt or tap the dice icon to generate something random.
Despite audience pushback(Opens in a new window), Meta continues to find more ways to compete with video-first TikTok. That now includes letting creators automatically cross-post Reels from Instagram to Facebook. Cut out the middleman of saving clips, opening new apps, writing additional captions, and simply toggle on the "Share to Facebook" option when posting a Reel.
Users can also look forward to Creator Studio analytics, money-earning virtual Stars, support for remixing Reels, and the option to turn Stories and Memories into auto-created videos.
The announcement comes two weeks after Meta cut Facebook Live Shopping in favor of short-form shoppable Reels. Facebook users can still host live videos, but as of Oct. 1, won't be able to create product playlists or tag products.
