Several NBA players have taken to social media to claim that they have been shown a demo of 2023’s Call of Duty title.
The event is taking place as part of the NBA’s Summer League, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas.
In the images which have been posted to Instagram, and later shared on Twitter, several NBA players are shown sitting at PS5‘s allegedly playing the game. It’s unclear if they were allowed to post these images to social media as part of the event.
Prominent Call of Duty Twitter account CharlieINTEL has suggested that the players didn’t get to play the new game and instead were just shown a demo.

Banners featuring the new Call of Duty logo can also be seen. The new franchise logo has been rolled out on the brand’s official channels for some time, but this could suggest that the new logo will be featured on the cover of 2023’s game.
This year’s Call of Duty game is reportedly being led by Sledgehammer, and supervised by Infinity Ward. It was reported by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, that Activision’s goal for the new Call of Duty is to make a game that feels“like a standalone, full-price release and also an extension of Modern Warfare II”.
Maps and modes from Modern Warfare 2 are also said to be carried over, though Schreier points out that those he spoke to warned that plans may change again between now and the game’s planned release.
Last year’s entry, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, was the fastest-selling in series history, according to Activision. Having topped $800 million in sales in its first three days of availability, Modern Warfare 2 crossed the $1 billion mark in 10 days.
