As February winds down, NBA 2K22 is nearing the end of season four of its MyTeam mode, scheduled for February 25, and with it comes big news of some things coming in season five. Producer Jonathan Smith joined Constant Walker on the official NBA2K Twitch channel during their Logo Show broadcast, teasing a couple of subjects on the horizon, and it has the basketball community buzzing.
While nothing concrete came out during the show, what the audience did get was enough to start speculation around the internet regarding what NBA 2K22's fifth season will contain. Smith laughed off any attempts at digging deeper to get more information, but he exclaimed that Wednesday's Courtside Report is coming shortly, which could mean more details will come in a few days.

At the 13-minute mark, Smith joined the stream and received a question about the upcoming season of MyTeam, a mode where players can buy and earn packs of cards, build their teams, and compete around the world in tournaments. Possibly the biggest news to come out is the announcement of a Dark Matter card being the reward for reaching level 40, marking the first time a card of this rarity can be obtained for free. Smith did not mention any names, but he added that two new players are making their debuts to MyTeam, one obtainable at level one of MyTeam while the other will be a part of the Unlimited series. An interesting detail is the news of their introductions being unique, an aspect producers haven't been able to attempt yet in this series.
