The Mythic+ scaling from Season 2 to Season 3 is much higher than previous seasons, making this week feel much harder. When combined with Tyrannical, bosses have almost doubled their health from last week on the same keystone level!
Mythic+ Scaling From Season 2 to Season 3In Mythic+ Season 3, dungeons seem to have been buffed by ~46% base health or 5 keystone levels. Essentially, this makes a +15 this week feel like a +20 from the previous Season. This change is much higher than previous Seasons, which were about 3 keystone levels and makes this week's keys feel much harder than previous Seasons.
Difficulty of Keys This WeekIn addition to the scaling factor of 5 Keystone Levels, there are some other factors which are likely making keys feel much harder this week. The first reason is Tyrannical, as bosses have a massive health pool while players haven't been able to gear up through Mythic+ and the raid just yet. This 30% scales further with the increased base health for the Season and just makes bosses take a long long time. This week's bosses have about double the health of last week's bosses due to Tyrannical and the base scaling increase. The other reason is the loss of Shards of Domination and class tuning, as many specs will have lost damage due to losing their damage based Shards of Domination and some specs even had their Legendaries or other class system nerfs coming into Patch 9.2. This will likely be offset by when Tier Sets and Double Legendaries are obtained by the community, but for now keys will be much more difficult unless players gear up again and can overcome those 5 keystone levels.
