Centipeder is easily the strangest hero to have ever appeared in the manga series My Hero Academia, and while his appearance is definitely out there, arguably the strangest thing about him is that he wasn’t even designed by the series’ creator. Juzo Moashi aka Centipeder was actually designed by a fan of the series who thought their original hero perfectly fit within the world of My Hero Academia. As it turns out, they were right and Centipeder became just as much a hero as All Might or Deku, albeit a bit more shocking in appearance.
Centipeder made his first appearance in My Hero Academia Chapter 134 by Kohei Horikoshi. Juzo is introduced as a sidekick in the office of Sir Nighteye’s Hero Office. Centipeder has the appearance of a tall, well-dressed man in a suit who happens to have a centipede for a head. His powers are, as readers might imagine, centipede based, though his head doesn’t play the most significant role in his overall quirk. Centipeder can elongate his arms and create tendrils that can capture villains from a distance, giving him and his team a strong advantage against anyone they may face.

While a great addition to the My Hero Academia universe and a valued hero in its society, Centipeder's origin lies with that of a character design contest that was open to fans. The manga publishing company Sheisha came up with the Today’s New Hero campaign which gave fans the chance to be involved with the growing lore of My Hero Academia.
