A new behind-the-scenes video shows Iman Vellani's reaction to being cast as Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel. TheDisney+ miniseries is set to release on June 8th, 2022. Ms. Marvel will follow Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American girl who is a huge fan of Captain Marvel, but who struggles to fit in with her peers. However, that all changes when she gains superpowers and becomes a hero herself. The series is meant to help set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming film The Marvels. That project, a sequel to Captain Marvel, will see Vellani reprising her role as Khan and starring alongside Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Paris).
Ms. Marvel will be Vellani's professional acting debut. Prior to her getting the role, she directed and appeared in a number of short films that she uploaded to Vimeo. In fact, one of the shorts she directed and appeared in was made to celebrate Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. Vellani has shown numerous times that she is a huge Marvel fan, making it easier for her to portray Khan's Captain Marvel fangirling.

Disney recently shared a behind-the-scenes video that showed the exact moment Vellani found out she had been cast inMs. Marvel. The announcement took place over a Zoom meeting filled with numerous executives, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was the one who dropped the news. In addition to telling her she got the role, he also confirmed that it was a unanimous decision. Vellani reacts with gleeful shock and excitement. Check out the video below:
