Spider-Man: No Way Home Director Is Making A Star Wars Series
When Jon Watts talked about needing to take a break from Marvel movies, it was hard to see his next direction was going to take him into the Star Wars universe. However, it's now apparent that the famed director is stepping away from the MCU because he wants to make a new Star Wars-based series.
Watts helmed all three of Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies, and originally he was also going to be the man behind the camera for the MCU's long-awaitedFantastic Four reboot. However, just a few weeks ago, Watts and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige both confirmed that he was going to step away from the new picture and that he needed a bit of a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. At the time, it was made clear that Feige didn't have any hard feelings, and now it's become clear just why he was so understanding.

In a recent Vanity Fair cover story, quite a few details about plans for the next steps in the Star Wars franchise were revealed. Among them was the fact that the Spider-Man: No Way Home chief is going to be creating and executive producing a new television series set in the Star Wars series that has been billed as a kind of «teenage coming of age» story. The new show doesn't yet have a title but is codenamed Grammar Rodeo.
It turns out that might be a bit of a hint about the plot considering it's named after an episode of The Simpsons where Bart and some of his friends stole a car and went on the lam for a week. The group of school kids end up using a fake educational event as the reason for their excursion. It seems likely the new series is going to have some sort of intergalactic version of that story.
