Mortal Kombat 12 was revealed earlier this year during a Warner Bros. earnings call, but Netherrealm might be gearing up for its own proper announcement. The official Twitter has been going through each of the current timeline's Mortal Kombat games (9, 10, and 11), recapping their reveals, guest characters, and trailers. Fans don't think it'll end with MK11, though, as many speculate that this is all building up to MK12.
"To save the future, Raiden sent a message to the past to prevent Armageddon," Mortal Kombat tweeted on March 15. "The realms were never the same." It followed this with a photo of EGM magazine and a question, "Who were you maining when Mortal Kombat (2011) dropped?" This slowly built to a debate on the guest kombatants, with photos shared of Kratos and Freddy Kreuger.

The latest tweet from the Mortal Kombat Twitter account was posted on April 7, asking fans, "Who were you maining in Mortal Kombat 11"? There hasn't been a post since, leading many to believe that it's preparing to leap into the next game in the series. That, or we've just had a fun recap of the past three titles. Professional esports player SonicFox, who is best known for fighting games, is in agreement with the fans, as they tweeted on the same day, "I anticipate an MK12 announcement next week".
