Warner Bros. may have just confirmed in an earnings call that Mortal Kombat 12 is in development and will actually launch later this year. A specific release date wasn't announced, but it was named alongside Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as game Warner Bros. expects to launch this year and has high hopes for.
This news comes from YouTuber Valliant Renegade, who was listening in on the earnings call when the game was announced. Talking about the performance of its gaming division, Warner Bros. boasts about the success of Hogwarts Legacy before moving onto other titles it has high projections for later this year.

As for when we might see an official announcement, given the size of Mortal Kombat 12 it will probably be around the summer, either during E3 or around that time. It would be pretty difficult to see Mortal Kombat 12 launch around the same time as Street Fighter 6 in June, especially considering both games have quite a niche audience that will likely overlap somewhat, so it's more than likely Mortal Kombat 12 will release in the holidays if does release this year as planned.
It also seems like Warner Bros. is hoping for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to keep its strong start to the year going.
