Moonfall follows two astronauts and a conspiracy theorist who realize there is something wrong with the moon. After it’s knocked out of its orbit by something mysterious, the trio — Jo Fowler, Brian Harper, and K.C. Houseman — gear up for a mission to save Earth from being destroyed by the falling space object, risking their own lives in the process. The film comes a little less than a couple of months after Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, another disaster movie that saw the world being threatened by an incoming comet. Moonfall, however, is much more of an action-thriller, which aligns with Emmerich’s filmography, which includes 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow.
