Monster Hunter Rise players have noticed a new element in their HUD while out and about. The mystery red bar appears directly over the health bar in Monster Hunter Rise, but there is no info regarding it in the various help menus.
However, those same players have noticed that when they have the red bar and when they take damage, said bar will decrease instead of their health. This has left many wondering exactly what it could be and how to properly use it. After all, when reaching High Rank hunts, players will need all the help they can get.

As it turns out, the red bar comes from Endemic Life that can be found in the world called a Lanternbug. Endemic Life also includes other critters like Spiribirds, Wirebugs, Vigorwasps, and more. Each will provide various benefits to the hunter like increased stamina, an extra Wirebug charge, and health restoration respectively. Utilizing Endemic Life can make all the difference in a hunt as they provide various benefits.
The Lanternbug is described as a glowing caterpillar that secretes a sticky fluid in order to attach leaves and wood to its body, thus making itself appear larger. However, this body fluid is highly volatile, and applying any shock to it will cause it to explode in self-defense. When worn by a hunter, it will detonate when struck, mitigating damage to the wearer. As an added bonus, the Lanternbug will also damage the monster that struck the hunter. The Lanternbug can be found in the Shrine Ruins, Sandy Plains, Frost Islands, and Lava Caverns.
