The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta begins this weekend, with players getting their first chance to experience Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer suite.
Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28, but beta access start this weekend for PlayStation users that are lucky enough to get a beta code.
PlayStation
Xbox and PC
While the first beta weekend (September 16-20) will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the second weekend (September 22-26) will be available to all players.
Crossplay will be active during the second weekend, meaning PlayStation, Xbox and PC players will all be able to play each other regardless of which platform they’re using.
Players looking to take part in the Modern Warfare 2 beta can do so by pre-ordering the game for various retailers, of digitally through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace or on PC.
If a user pre-orders from Amazon, they’ll receive the code, and can then cancel their pre-order, allowing them to play the beta without having to purchase the game.
According to Activision, the beta will feature a “robust multiplayer experience going beyond the Core 6v6 experience” and will offer a variety of maps and modes.
By playing the beta, players will be able to earn a number of in-game rewards which will be available in the main Modern Warfare II game at launch.
More details on the beta will be revealed at Call of Duty: Next, a special broadcast taking place on September 15 which will give new information on Modern Warfare II, Warzone and the mobile version of Warzone.
