The breakout success of online gacha RPG Genshin Impact since its release late in 2020 has propelled MiHoYo into one of the biggest names in the gaming industry. The RPG has maintained its position as one of the most highly discussed games on social media platforms like Twitter since its launch and the game's gacha banners have earned MiHoYo hundreds of millions of dollars. With Genshin's success begging for a follow-up, MiHoYo announced its newest game, Honkai: Star Rail, late last year with its first closed beta test and recently returned with more news about the in-development RPG.
Revealed in October of last year, Honkai: Star Rail takes closer inspiration from MiHoYo's original flagship franchise, Honkai Impact 3rd, sharing many of the same exploration elements from Genshin but with a more science-fiction-inspired setting. Star Rail, however, differs from its predecessors with a major shift in the game's combat, trading off the real-time combat of Genshin and Honkai for a more traditional turn-based combat system. Now, MiHoYo's newest announcement for the upcoming RPG officially reveals open signups for the game's second closed beta test.
Genshin Impact Report Proves Game is Still Incredibly Popular
MiHoYo officially announced the second closed beta test for Honkai: Star Rail on Thursday with a survey for interested players to fill out asking for details like information on how often a player plays games throughout the week and their experience with similar games.
