Fans of Stephen King's magnum opus The Dark Tower who constantly crave more Gunslinger content should make sure to check out Marvel Comics prequel series The Dark Tower: Beginnings. While Roland Deschain's childhood and uprbinging in the realm of Gilead is told through several flashbacks, mainly in The Dark Tower: Wizard and Glass and The Dark Tower: The Wolves of Calla, the prequel comic fully fleshes out what turned Roland into The Gunslinger.
Writer Stephen King is known for being very open with giving people the rights to adapt his works, often commenting that he knows many will not be good but a few will be amazing, and King has commented that The Dark Tower: Beginnings is one of those amazing exceptions. The Dark Tower novel series is beloved by so many people partly because of how gorgeously descriptive and emotional King's writing is, and it turns out that a graphic novel adaptation is almost the perfect way to view The Dark Tower through a new, fresh lens.

The Dark Tower: Beginnings is adapted by Robin Furth, Stephen King's personal assistant and researcher who helped him write The Dark Tower and is seen as the foremost expert on it's lore. It's scripted by Eisner-Award winner Peter David, with truly stunning art by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. Of particular note is that Stephen King acted as Creative and Executive Director throughout the entire run of the 30-issue series, which was spread out over 5 different graphic novels and was first published starting in 2007.
