Earlier this year, publisher Capcom announced the next instalment of the Resident Evil series is in development. With Resident Evil 9 confirmed in all but name, fans of the horror franchise are patiently awaiting the full reveal, and that may come very soon if Metacritic is to be believed.
A page for the upcoming game was recently spotted on the review aggregation website. Metacritic doesn't typically create listings for titles that have yet to be publicly unveiled.
While it could simply be a placeholder page, given that the game is already confirmed to be on the way, some fans are taking this as a sign that we'll be seeing the first of Resident Evil 9 sooner rather than later.
According to X user Projekt Parasol, a similar situation occurred when Metacritic created a page for Resident Evil 4: Gold Edition roughly two months prior to announcement. In about two months from now, The Game Awards 2024 will take place on 12th December.
So, an official unveiling of Resi 9 at Geoff Keighley's year-ending show certainly seems plausible. Rumours about the game have been flying around for what feels like ages, so it'll be nice to finally put this to bed — here's hoping Capcom gives us what we want in the near future.
What do you think? Is the Metacritic page a sign that we'll see the game very soon? Munch on a green herb in the comments section below.

I think a Geoff Keighley announcement is entirely possible and could be the reason we haven’t seen it elsewhere. If RE9 is 2025, add it to the list of games more exciting than GTA6 to be released next year (for me, personally).
