Jordana Brewster is a mainstay in the, but the actress does have one regret when it comes to how she played the character of Mia Toretto.
Speaking to ComingSoon, Brewster said that — after a gap in appearances between the first and fourth films — she was excited to return to the series, but regrets that her character didn’t retain their “grittiness” in the fourth film, Fast & Furious.
“I think there was a gap between one and four when I came back. When I came back, I was so excited and so happy, and it was just like this gift that then kept on giving because now we’re at 10,” said Brewster. “But I recently watched one, four, and five, and Mia had this grittiness that in [the original] that I, it didn’t come back till five. So, I kind of feel like I sh-t the bed in four, and I regret it. I wish I could like time-travel and redo that one. But yeah, it’s pretty awesome that it’s such a big part of people’s lives.”
Thankfully for Brewster, she was happy to see the grittiness come back for the film’s fifth entry, Fast Five. All in all, Brewster has appeared in seven of the 10 Fast & Furious movies that have come out, having not appeared in 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and The Fate of the Furious.
An 11th Fast & Furious movie is currently in development, and was originally planned to be the franchise’s finale. However, in 2023, star Vin Diesel surprised fans by announcing that there would actually be a 12th movie, turning Fast X, Fast 11, and Fast 12 into a trilogy to end the franchise. It’s unclear if that is still the plan, however, as of the time of this writing.
