Manchester United player Mason Greenwood made headlines last weekend over serious allegations that have been made. An 18-year-old woman posted photos and voice clips on social media showing some pretty shocking stuff, alleging that the injuries she had suffered had been inflicted by Greenwood and that the Premier League player had sexually assaulted and raped her. Greater Manchester Police revealed it had arrested a man in his 20s shortly after the allegations were made.
Companies Greenwood is affiliated with have responded with statements since the allegations were made. Manchester United has revealed Greenwood will not return to the squad or training until further notice, presumably until the police investigation has concluded. Nike also issued a statement revealing it is deeply concerned about the allegations and will continue to monitor the situation.

Now EA has reacted and has started to remove Greenwood from various game modes. The player is no longer available in any of FIFA 22's offline modes. That includes kick-off and career mode. Greenwood's FUT card is still currently available in Ultimate Team, and it remains unclear whether he will eventually be removed from the game entirely as the investigation into the allegations continue.
Greenwood isn't the first Premier League player to have been removed from FIFA 22 following serious allegations made against them this season. Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy was accused of similar crimes last year and was arguably removed from FIFA a little later than he should have been.
