Crystal Dynamics' Marvel’s Avengers is offering Iron Man’s MCU suit for free in the marketplace, likely frustrating players who already purchased the in-game cosmetic. Since its launch, Marvel’s Avengers has made a habit of disappointing fans, from lackluster content updates and pay-to-win features to what has been perceived as the developers’ continuous disregard for its player base. For example, the recent V2.3 patch offered a plethora of bug fixes, while simultaneously bringing a new set of issues, such as Marvel’s Avengers crashing on PS5. Though Crystal Dynamics quickly remedied the issue, the catastrophic update only heightened the ongoing controversy surrounding the game.
Regardless of the game’s glaring issues, Crystal Dynamics continues to feed Marvel’s Avengers with new skins. Players have most recently been able to don Spider-Man’s Infinity War armor, and a new MCU Black Widow skin was added in early March. It seems every week Crystal Dynamics drops new in-game cosmetics, and some are quite impressive, like the comic-inspired Uru Iron Man Suit. That said, many fans have been critical of the game’s steady stream of new skins, especially since the state of Marvel’s Avengers isn’t what players expect. Many want the developers to focus on adding new content to the game, or at the very least, to make sure it works before adding more skins to purchase. Fans were especially angry that Marvel’s Avengers revealed its MCU Thor skin before fixing the PS5 crashes.
