While there are many practical suits that Iron Man has, a special hot rod-inspired armor is one that Tony Stark's MCU counterpart would have loved to have. The Iron Man By Design variant cover line included this armor on the cover of Punisher #16 in 2010. It combines a 50s automobile aesthetic with the hero's iconic look and color scheme.
In Iron Man, while designing the MCU suit, Jarvis presents a gold suit which Tony calls «ostentatious» before looking at one of the cars in his collection. This inspires him to add in «hot rod red,» bringing together his iconic look. Tony Stark is also frequently seen in impressive cars and is a fan of sleek-looking machinery. It would then stand to reason that this hot rod-inspired design would be right up his alley if he was looking to channel more vintage automobile elements.

Punisher #16 has the creative team of Rick Remender and Tony Moore. The variant cover for the issue starring Iron Man is illustrated by Dave Taylor. The cover art does an excellent job of combining 50s design staples with Iron Man's traditional look. It stands out as a distinctly different suit for another time while still being recognizable as Iron Man's costume. It incorporates many of the rounded elements and the polished metallic shine that help define the era visually.
This is a very sleek suit and it throws back very well to fantastical portrayals of futuristic technology, while still being solidly rooted in the past. The silver accents provide a highlighting trim common with hot rods.
