Mandy Moore weighs in on Rebecca's emotional death episode in This Is Us season 6. After premiering in 2016 with an inventive series opener, the NBC drama has gone on to run for over 100 episodes. The Pearsons' story will come to an end on May 24 after a final season that's spent more time in the future than ever before. Recent episodes have chronicled Miguel's passing, Kate's marriage to Phillip, and Kevin and Sophie's romantic reunion. This Is Us season 6 has also focused increasingly on Rebecca's deteriorating condition, which came to a head in this week's episode.
«The Train» finds the Pearsons gathered around Rebecca's bedside after she takes a turn for the worse. The episode shows Beth, Toby, and the rest of the family saying their goodbyes just before Rebecca passes. However, the hour also takes viewers inside Rebecca's mind, as she envisions walking along a train to the end. On the train, she encounters the majority of the show's main characters, even seeing past and present versions of her kids together. Rebecca also talks with Randall's birth father, William, and Dr. K, who played a pivotal role in This Is Us' very first episode. After waiting for Kate to make it to her bedside, Rebecca reunites with Jack in the train's last car.
