Dominic Cooper, who plays Sky in Mamma Mia! and its sequel, shares an update on the current status of Mamma Mia 3. Mamma Mia! was released back in 2008 and used a multitude of classic songs by the band ABBA to bring to life the story of a young woman named Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who contacts three of her mother's (Meryl Streep) past lovers in the hope that one of them will be her father. The three ex-lovers were played by Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård, who featured alongside a stacked cast that also included the likes of Christine Baranski and Julie Walters. Cooper starred as Sophie's husband-to-be, Sky.
Following the success of the first Mamma Mia! film, 2018 saw the much-loved musical brought back to the big screen, this time with Pam & Tommy star, Lily James at the helm, taking on a younger version of Streep's character, Donna. While most of the first film's cast returned for the sun-soaked sequel, including Seyfried and Cooper, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again saw Streep return only briefly, as the story told of her tragic passing in the years since the first film. Mamma Mia 2 focuses partly on Sophie and Sky's turbulent relationship, which of course all comes to a happy ending within the film's final moments, but for many Mamma Mia 2 maintains the same feel-good atmosphere that lead to the immense success of the first film. Many have therefore been calling for Mamma Mia 3 ever since its would-be predecessor first landed in theatres. Now, Cooper has offered an update on this much-anticipated threequel.
