There is nothing a Maestro won't pay to get what they want, and that is represented in their mechanic Casualty. Throwing a creature away to get as much value as possible is their way of life, but how can you make use of Casualty? Casualty shares some similarities with another sacrifice-centric mechanic, Exploit. It is a keyworded triggered ability that activates while the spell is being cast, and allows you to sacrifice a creature for a bonus effect..
Once you've cast a spell with Casualty, you may sacrifice a creature as an additional casting cost. If you sacrifice a creature with sufficiently high power, the spell you cast is copied. The power needed for the casualty sacrifice is listed on the spell through its Casualty number. For example, Cut Your Losses has a Casualty number of two, meaning you must sacrifice a creature with at least two power.
As with other copying abilities, the copy isn't cast, it's placed directly onto the stack. This means that it's an exact copy of the original spell, including any X costs you may have paid. If you Casualty copies a Cut of the Profits, for instance, the copy will have the same X as the one you actually paid for.
