Mafia 4 from Hangar 13 will reportedly be set in 1900s Sicily and will return to a familiar character from the previous entries.
Some snippets about the upcoming Mafia game were shared by insider Nick Baker during the latest XboxEra podcast. According to the leaker, Mafia 4 will be a prequel to the first installment by Illusion Softworks and the recent remake by Hangar 13. The new project will take place some 30 years before the events happened in the city of Lost Heaven.

This upcoming game won't return players to the usual settings, instead giving you the large Italian island of Sicily to explore. Fans of the series already visited this region in Mafia 2 — only for one mission. During the prologue, Vito Scaletta took part in military operations in southern Italy in 1943. This time, however, you will freely explore the massive region at the turn of the 20th century, so it should feel very different.
Another thing Nick Baker claims to have heard is that Mafia 4 will follow the story of the Salieri family rising, including the major appearance of young Ennio Salieri himself. Players will take the role of one of his loyal gangsters, dedicated to bringing power and success to the mob family. Mafia 4 is going to maintain the classic mission structure seen in Mafia 2 and Mafia: Definitive Edition.
