When the last Nintendo Direct arrived in June, Nintendo teased that a certain game starring Luigi would be remastered for the Nintendo Switch. Today, the newest Direct revealed Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD would be coming next summer for the console. The classic 3DS title takes Luigi to a haunted village where ghosts are running rampant, and he’ll need to suck them up via his trusty vacuum! But that’s not the only thing that was announced aside from the upgraded graphics. There will be multiplayer modes for gamers to enjoy to make the experience even more fun. But let’s start at the beginning, shall we?
The game starts when Professor E. Gadd does some research in the Evershade Valley. Naturally, he’s researching some ghostly activity that is happening there. However, King Boo suddenly arrives and shatters the Dark Moon, which was the name of the 3DS version of the title. The moon shatters into six pieces and falls around the valley into six locations. E. Gadd contacts Luigi and kidnaps him so he can help the Professor out—such a nice guy.
Thankfully, much like in his original adventure, Luigi will have the Poltergust vacuum to help him suck up ghosts that appear within the various locations in the valley. He’ll also have his flashlight to stun ghosts to set them up for the vacuum. Not to mention, the vacuum can help you find hidden objects like money or reveal new pathways you can get to by sucking up dirt or pushing away things like carpets.
One of the “hooks” of the original title was that Luigi wasn’t within a single mansion but a set of locations that offered him various challenges. With the updated graphics, these places look crisper than ever, and that will appeal to many players. Plus, as noted, there will be multiplayer
