Warner Bros. announced the release date for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim upcoming original anime, but you have to be patient. The project is expected to arrive on April 12, 2024 — over two years from now.
New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation are working on the anime feature, set 250 years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. Sola Entertainment studio has been handling the project since June 2021. As reported by Variety, the creators aim to deliver "an epic portrayal unlike anything audiences have ever seen."

Alongside the release date announcement, the studio provided a couple of first official concept art pieces for the project. As you can see, the War of the Rohirrim images mostly capture the taste of mighty armies heading into battle on the fields of Rohan and include a shot of the settlement siege with giant Mûmakil (also known as Oliphaunts). Since those are early concepts, they are unlikely to reflect the final visual style of the upcoming anime and appear to be heavily inspired by Peter Jackson's iconic films.
According to the early synopsis, The War of the Rohirrim will focus on the King of Rohan Helm Hammerhand and his efforts to build Helm's Deep — the well-known stronghold attacked by Saruman's army in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Kenji Kamiyama, known for the recent Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime, is directing the original take on the famous universe alongside producer Joseph Chou.
