The Lord of the Ringsactor Elijah Wood responds very positively to new images released of the upcoming anime film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The projectwas first announced back in June of 2021. Reportedly, the film takes place two centuries before The Hobbit and will follow the exploits of Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan, and the creation of Helm's Deep. The film is to be helmed by Kenji Kamiyama and Joseph Chou, who are also the team behind Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Currently, The War of the Rohirrim is set to premiere on April 24, 2024.
Many Lord of the Rings fans will also be excited to know that the creative team for War of the Rohirrim also has roots in the original team behind Peter Jackson's groundbreaking film trilogy. The Lord of the Rings' Oscar winning co-writer Philippa Boyens is credited as a consultant on the film. Boyens' daughter, Phoebe Gittins, along with her writing partner Arty Papageorgiou, will be writing the screenplay together. The creative team will even include make-up and visual effects artist Richard Taylor and art director Alan Lee (who both won Oscars for their work on Jackson's trilogy), as well as Tolkien illustrator John Howe.

Now that new concept art for The War of the Rohirrim has been revealed, Wood, who famously played Frodo in Jackson's trilogy,takes to Twitter to express his approval. Wood makes his opinion short and to the point by simply tweeting «YESSSSS,» as well as retweeting a link to an article sharing the new art.
