Developer NetEase Games recently teased that a legendary new Middle-earth hero will be joining the battle in The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War. The mobile strategic wargame takes place in the fantasy setting's Third Age, allowing iconic characters and locations from throughout the franchise to appear. A Lord of the Rings: Rise to War E3 showcase teased the game ahead of its September 2021 launch, and NetEase Games seems determined to continue supporting the fantasy title.
The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War lets players use a variety of iconic characters from throughout the franchise to fight for supremacy. Players are able to join factions, assemble an army and explore Middle-earth on a quest to claim the One Ring. Lord of the Rings: Rise to War breaks the series' intricate timeline in an effort to create an exciting mobile experience, with the game taking place during a period of truce that temporarily ends the War of the Ring. The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War timeline doesn't follow J.R.R. Tolkien's novels, potentially letting a figure long dead before the original book trilogy make an appearance.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, developer NetEase Games revealed that Isildur may join The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War in future seasons. The legendary King of Gondor and Arnor is known for leading the charge against Sauron and successfully cutting the One Ring from his finger. However, Isildur sadly succumbed to the Ring's seduction and prevented its timely destruction before meeting a dishonorable end.
