Rick & Morty Season 6 Trailer & Poster Tease New Alien Species

Rick and Morty season 6 teases something big hatching with a trailer and poster featuring a mysterious alien egg. Rick and Morty season 5 proved to be a game-changer as it seemingly wiped out the show’s all-important multiverse forever. Now Adult Swim is ready to unleash season 6, and fans will soon get answers about where things stand after the events of season 5.

Of course not all fans were thrilled with the way things developed in Rick and Morty season 5. Some applauded the show’s more serious tone while others didn’t quite buy into the shift away from purely wacky adventures. For his part, Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland recently admitted that season 5 was a “weird one” while also promising that season 6 will be “a bit more canonical.”

It remains to be seen what Roiland means by season 6 being “a bit more canonical.” But now they have a very small hint about the coming action thanks to a brief clip from Adult Swim that revisits the infamous Citadel – the trans-dimensional home of all the various multiversal Rick and Morties. In the clip, an egg can be seen protected inside a chamber while explosions happen (the Citadel of course was presumably destroyed at the end of season 5 along with the Central Finite Curve). As a fan revealed on Twitter, the show also unveiled a new poster at Adult Swim Festival featuring the same egg – further indicating that the object has some significance to season 6.
