Dratnos and Tettles are recapping Day 3 of the Race to World First! After a day and a bit of splits, the Mythic portion of the Race to World First is now truly underway! At the time of recording, Liquid and Echo had opened up a multiple boss lead over the rest of the competition, with the rest of the top 5 filled out by familiar names Method, SK Pieces, and BDGG who were also the Top 5 of Sepulcher. In the lead, Liquid blazed a trail through the early bosses, hitting enrage timers on several fights, which is uncharacteristic of such early bosses.
This suggests we might be looking at a very tightly tuned tier, perhaps one that future resets of gear and the Week 3 Mythic Double Legendaries to complete. Echo have also knocked out 5 bosses, with Prototype Pantheon going down using some exciting specs like multiple Affliction Warlocks for both guilds, and Restoration Druid, Frost Death Knight, and Survival Hunter for Liquid.
Echo on the other hand ran some more commonly seen raid specs, such as Subtlety Rogue and the classic double Priest double Paladin healer comp, though both guilds opted to have their priests play Holy rather than Disc to blast extra throughput. In the next 24 hours, we expect to see Liquid and Echo advance to 7/11, with Lihuvim proving to be quite a serious contender for Liquid, and both guilds somewhat shy to really dig their teeth into Halondrus until Lihuvim goes down in order to minimize information given to their competitors.
