Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is going a little bit Animal Crossing with the newly announced Dondoko Island side of the game. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is out on 26th January 2024.
Heading off to Dondoko Island enables a lot of player-driven shenanigans in a new cosy DIY lifestyle sim. You’ll be able to turn this into your very own holiday home, pretty much from the ground up. You can build your own home, set the layout, furnish it with various items, keep a pet tiger there, and plenty more. But that’s not all, because you can also customise the rest of the island to your liking too, setting out pathways and infrastructure, putting down homes for friends and neighbours, and just turning it into your perfect idyll. With things like fishing, crafting, buying, it really does feel like a human-filled version of Animal Crossing.
But that’s not the end of it, because while Animal Crossing is all happy and friendly, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is all about that RPG combat, similar to how Yakuza: Like a Dragon was. You’ll have to defend your island from uninvited guest and gangs who just want to spoil your pleasant fun.
Following on from the last game, Ichiban has ended up in Honolulu, Hawaii, taking him and the series out of Japan for the first time. He is on a quest to find his mother, but as you can guess not everything is as it seems. It seems a lot of people are trying to bring Inchiban down after the events of the first game, but a familiar face also comes to his aid. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will have dual protagonists too with Ichiban as one, and series legend Kiryu Kazama as the other who has one final battle of his own to deal with.
