A new Lightyear poster and images arriving revealing Chris Evans' Space Ranger teammates as they embark on an intergalactic adventure. Announced at the 2020 Disney Investor Day, the Toy Story spin-off hails from franchise co-creator Pete Docter with Angus MacLane directing. Lightyear marks MacLane's debut in the director's chair after working as an animator on every Pixar film from A Bug's Life to Toy Story 3 and later working on the Senior Creative Team for Finding Dory through Turning Red, the former of which he co-directed and provided additional story material to.
Lightyear serves as an origin story for Buzz Lightyear, the hero who would go on to inspire the action figure from the Toy Story movies. The film follows Buzz as a rookie test pilot who is marooned on an alien planet with other members of the Star Command and must figure a way to get everyone back home while fighting against the Evil Emperor Zurg and his forces. With only a few months remaining until the film's arrival, Pixar is offering new looks at Lightyear.
