Robert Downey Jr. had a couple of alternate final lines for Iron Man and all of them would've ruined his perfect death in Avengers: Endgame. It's been almost three years since Marvel Studios' culminating film wrapped up the Infinity Saga. It marked the end of the franchise's first three phases and, further emphasizing its importance in the MCU's history, Avengers: Endgame also featured the final outing for its inaugural hero, Tony Stark.
Since debuting in 2008 via Jon Favreau's Iron Man, the genius billionaire had been the poster boy for the franchise, appearing in 10 films across 11 years. While he wrapped up his solo sub-franchise in 2013's Iron Man 3, Marvel Studios continued to develop the character's arc through the Avengers movies, as well as a couple more appearances in other heroes' standalone projects. Throughout his time in the MCU, Tony transformed from being a self-centered industrialist to a selfless hero, declaring, «I am Iron Man,» as he snapped Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his minions out of existence Avengers: Endgame — a move that also claimed his life.

That being said, Downey apparently had a string of alternate final lines for Iron Man in the film. Known for going off of the script, the actor had improvised some of his character's greatest moments in the MCU. As he revealed in a new interview, he thought about«You're f*cked» and «Oh snap» as some of his potential parting words.
