A couple of years after her latest screenwriting projects, Dunham is teaming up with Apple & A24 for her new movie, Going Infinite, about FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.
Author Michael Lewis has a talent for uncovering unconventional true stories that become movies like Moneyball, The Blind Side, and The Big Short. According to Variety, the NY Times Best Seller author’s latest book, Going Infinite, will become an Apple/A24 project. Lena Dunham will join as the film’s screenwriter.
Going Infinite joins other anticipated Apple Original Films/A24 projects like Spike Lee’s High and Low and the murder-mystery The Wives. It also appears that Going Infinite is just one out of the many projects related to the FTX collapse. Back in 2022, Amazon planned to create a limited series surrounding the controversial financial scandal. There’s even another streamer who plans to make their own limited series starring a recent Emmy winner playing Sam Bankman-Fried.
Based on Michael Lewis’ nonfiction book, Going Infinite’s plot follows the story of Sam Bankman-Fried. The world’s youngest billionaire was a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency world. He was the founder of FTX, which became one of the biggest and most well-known cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.
In 2022, billions of dollars were missing when a huge number of customers attempted to withdraw their money at once. Eventually, Bankman-Fried was indicted and convicted of charges involving money laundering, fraud, and other things.
